Timi and Leslie Chantal Convertible Baby Bag – Orange
I’m about to have my third child and am tired of cutesy Pooh diaper bags. It has been quite a while since I had a little one in diapers. I have become accustomed to being able to carry a nice purse. I enjoy matching my purses with outfits and moods. I was a little sad to have to go back to my diaper bag ways. After some research into the matter though, I was delighted to discover the new trend of purse-looking diaper bags. I, and you, do not have to resort to cutesy stuff. You do not have to wear a cotton bag with embroidered bunnies! We can all have nice diaper bags that look like nice purses. What a wonderful change!
I heard good things about Timi and Leslie, so I looked into them online and happily discovered they’re on a good sale everywhere. I would honestly have preferred one of their leather bags, but this one was cheaper and I loved the doctor’s bag style opening (more on that later).
I got this bag in the mail a couple of days ago. My husbands first question was: “Is that a carpetbag?” because it looks very retro and is indeed reminiscent of Mary Poppins’ Nanny bag. It is beautifully designed and looks very classy and dignified. I love the brass feet to keep the bag from dirtying itself on the ground (or public bathroom floors).
One of the best aspects about it is the way it opens. So many diaper bags have a zipper close at the top. With those, you have to hold your bag open with one hand while fiddling with your baby with the other. This bag however opens and sits open and upright like an old fashioned doctors bag. Some much praised practical diaper bags from other companies do the same thing but don’t look half as nice. It has several pockets inside, one on the outside, an insulated bottle holder, and a matching included Mommmy bag/wallet. The change pad is huge – almost 28 inches long! I wouldn’t want to use it as an everyday diaper bag because it’s so nice and the exterior fabric is not easily cleaned. It is however thankfully dark and patterned and will likely hide stains well.
I love all the choices there are for how to carry this bag. Its got short shoulder straps that leave the bag under your arm, a long shoulder strap for cross-shoulder carrying (better for your back), and shorter stroller straps for attaching simply and directly to the stroller. There is obviously so much thoughtfulness in how this bag is made. I would certainly recommend it to others. A-Frame double handle satchel with brass hardware. continue reading.
